SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A garage fire in the 1700 block of N Locust Rd was quickly contained by firefighters, preventing it from spreading to nearby homes.
The Spokane Regional Emergency Communications received calls about the fire just after 9:00 a.m. on February 20, 2025. Witnesses reported seeing two large propane tanks on fire inside the garage.
Fire crews arrived on the scene in under six minutes and found the detached garage fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters deployed hose lines and initiated an exterior attack. Due to the intensity, they transitioned to defensive operations to protect nearby structures.
The fire was brought under control within 17 minutes of the initial dispatch. No injuries were reported among citizens or firefighters.
Preliminary findings by Spokane Valley Fire Department investigators suggest the fire’s ignition source was likely electrical. They reminded residents to plug portable heating devices directly into outlets and avoid using power strips or extension cords.
