Funding cuts threaten Spokane after-school programs

SPOKANE, Wash. – The future of after-school and summer programs in Spokane is uncertain, after the Trump administration chose to withhold previously approved funding.

Our partners at the Spokesman Review reported that $6 billion in educational grants are being cut. Washington State is expected to lose $137 million from these cuts.

Regal, Cooper, Stevens and Bemiss elementary schools in Spokane will be affected. West Valley’s Orchard Center and Seth Woodard elementary schools also rely on these grants to fund their programs.
