
SPOKANE, Wash. — Book lovers can stock up on reading material without breaking the bank when the annual Friends of the Spokane Public Library book sale begins Thursday at Shadle Park Library.
The three-day event features more than 10,000 books, DVDs, and CDs spanning multiple genres, with items priced at $1 or less. Children’s books cost just 50 cents each.
“This is our major fundraiser for the Friends of the Library,” said Judi Young, a volunteer with Friends of the Spokane Public Library. “The friends of the library support the programs of the Spokane Public Library. Things like Beanstack, summer reading program, Spokane Is Reading.”
The sale begins with a members-only presale on Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Shadle Park Library, located at 2111 W. Wellesley. People who are not yet members can sign up at the door for $15 for an individual membership or $25 for a family membership to access the presale.
The public sale runs Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday shoppers can take advantage of special deals, purchasing a bag of books for $3 or a box of books for $6. Organizers encourage customers to bring their own bags.
