SPOKANE, Wash. — Avista is still working to restore power to the customers impacted by Wednesday’s windstorm but says certain areas may not have power until Sunday.
According to the utility, it’s restored power for 86% of those impacted.
Overnight Wednesday, powerful winds knocked out power for about 61,000 Avista customers. By Friday morning, almost 8,500 were still without power.
Avista says Friday morning’s snowfall is causing challenges for crews. With just one power pole taking approximately eight hours to replace and the amount of devastation, some people in Colville and the Silver Valley may not have power until Sunday.
Avista says it will provide more detailed updates on restoration times as more information becomes available.
