OLYMPIA – Washington state federal workers and others affected by the federal government shutdown can attend a free virtual webinar on October 30 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
The Employment Security Department, in collaboration with the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County, will cohost the event.
The webinar aims to assist those facing furloughs or layoffs by providing guidance on navigating unemployment benefits and other resources.
Participants will learn about applying for unemployment benefits, handling health care benefits, expanding job skills through training, and accessing free career guidance and job search resources.
A previous webinar on October 23 attracted 489 attendees. By that date, 1,832 federal workers in Washington had applied for unemployment benefits.
This initiative is part of the state’s Rapid Response efforts to support individuals impacted by large layoffs. It involves partnerships with local and state agencies, including WorkSource, Washington State Community & Technical Colleges, and the Washington State Labor Council.
