SPOKANE, Wash. – Jonathan Bingle, former Spokane city councilmember, announced on Monday his candidacy for the Washington State House of Representatives in the 6th legislative district.
The 6th legislative district encompasses parts of Spokane County including Airway Heights, Four Lakes, Medical Lake, and areas north of Spokane proper such as Country Homes and Fairwood.
Bingle ran for re-election in 2025 but lost to progressive challenger Sarah Dixit. He also ran for the U.S. Congress in 2024, but lost the Republican primary race to Michael Baumgartner, who was ultimately elected.
“Washington is at a crossroads,” Bingle said in a press release. “Families are struggling to make ends meet, neighbors don’t feel as safe as they should in our community, and too many decisions are being made far away from the people who feel the consequences every day.”
Bingle also thanked Representative Jenny Graham, who is not running for re-election in the 6th district, for her service.
“She has been a strong advocate for our region and a consistent voice for her values,” Bingle said.
Bingle also announced endorsements from local figures such as Rep. Graham, Spokane County Sheriff John Nowels, Spokane County Prosecutor Preston McCollam, former Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward and others.
In the comments of his announcement post, Bingle expressed interest in eventually running for mayor of Spokane but said, “I just don’t think that’s winnable right now.”
“This campaign is about ensuring our communities are well-represented in Olympia,” Bingle said.
