Florida challenges Washington, California over commercial driver’s licenses

A legal dispute has emerged as Florida takes Washington and California to the U.S. Supreme Court. Florida has accused both states of issuing commercial driver’s licenses to individuals living in the country illegally, claiming this practice violates federal safety and immigration standards.

Florida’s complaint highlights a recent crash that resulted in the deaths of three people, allegedly involving a driver licensed in both California and Washington.

The petition filed by Florida seeks a declaration from the high court to label the states’ actions as a “public nuisance” and to prevent them from continuing this practice.
