WASHINGTON — The Washington Department of Transportation estimates that damages from December’s historic flooding could be in the $40 to $50 million range.
The floods caused significant devastation to communities along the Skagit River and led to the closure of Highway 2 through Stevens Pass for several weeks. Some roads remain closed to the public.
To date, the Washington Department of Transportation has completed four of the 16 emergency repair projects identified after the floods.
The full financial impact is still unclear as crews continue to assess the damage to infrastructure.
