OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. – The National Weather Service Spokane (NWSS) has issued a flash flood warning for the Cub Creek burn scar in Central Okanogan County. The warning will be in effect from 5:10 p.m. until 8:15 p.m.
The NWSS reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Cub Creek burn scar, with rainfall expected to reach up to one inch. This excessive rainfall could lead to debris flow, affecting areas like Chewuch Campground, Falls Creek Campground and Camp Four Campground.
Officials have strongly advised residents to steer clear of recently burned areas due to the risk of life-threatening flooding and the potential for rockslides and mudslides. Residents should be vigilant for flooding in creeks, roads and usually dry arroyos.
