
STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. – Stevens County Fire District No. 1 crews have been busy responding to multiple fires, reportedly sparked by fireworks. Since midnight on July 3, there were eight calls, including a fire on top of an RV and a brush fire.
The brush fire, located on Jergens near Hwy 291, grew to 1/10th of an acre and connected with a large slash and debris fire. Crews have it under control, but heavy equipment is being used to manage the debris pile.
Residents may see smoke throughout the day, but officials assure there is no threat to the community.
