SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Six brush fires from early in the morning on August 12 in Spokane Valley are being investigated for arson.
The fires, which started around 1 a.m. have been contained by firefighters. Efforts took about two hours and did not require any evacuations. No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
Six fires were set: three at Mirabeau Point Park, one south of Trent Avenue, one north of Trent Avenue and one between Trent Avenue and Mirabeau Point Park.
Deputies temporarily blocked traffic at Mirabeau Parkway directly in front of the park around 1 a.m., but have since reopened traffic.
Assistant Fire Marshal Abraham Nisbet said that the fires were human caused because there is no other source of ignition in the area. He also said that their proximity trail links them together.
Investigation is underway.
