GRANT COUNTY, Wash. – Firefighters in Grant County are urging residents to be cautious and check conditions before conducting controlled burns.

This follows a recent fire in the Ephrata area that quickly spread due to high winds, putting homes and wildland at risk.

The fire, which started in the Ephrata area, was brought under control by crews from Ephrata and Grant County Fire District 5. The blaze spread across approximately 25 acres, damaging some rangeland.

As the annual Grant County burn ban approaches, residents are reminded of the importance of monitoring conditions to prevent uncontrolled fires.
