Firefighters respond to Spokane Valley house fire, rescue two pets

Spokane Valley firefighters rescued two pets from the house during the fire response.

They confirmed that the fire was reported at 10:35 a.m. and crews arrived at the scene at 10:39 a.m. By 10:58 a.m., crews had knocked down the fire.

There was no one in the home during the fire, just the two pets. The pets were rescued safely and sent to SCRAPS until the owners can pick them back up.

No one was injured in the fire, according to Patterson.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department wanted to remind people to practice responsible heating and avoid space heaters plugged into extension chords and surge protectors.

East 9th Avenue is closed near the fire, according to Travis Patterson with the Spokane Valley Fire Department.

Fire crews at the scene are working on mop up. The fire did not spread from the house it started at and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Spokane Valley Fire Department crews are responding to a house fire at the 7000 block of East 9th Avenue.

The department asked that people avoid the area and give crews space to work.
