The Nettleton Gulch Fire, reported on June 29, 2025, has expanded to 38 acres with 0% containment, according to the North Idaho Type 3 Incident Management Team led by Mike McManus. The growth is attributed to better mapping of the fire’s footprint.
Currently, there are no evacuations, and no structures are at risk.
Safety remains the top priority, and a Temporary Flight Restriction is in place over the Canfield Mountain area. Unauthorized drones and aircraft pose serious hazards to firefighting activities. “If you fly, we can’t,” officials emphasized.
The fire is on Forest Service land under Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) protection. Several Forest Service lands, roads, and trails are closed for safety and access, though some roads remain open. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, as is standard for wildfires under IDL protection.
