SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.- On October 31, 2025, a swift response by the Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) and City of Spokane Fire Department (SFD) managed to contain a fire in the attic of a home on E 9th Ave.
Multiple callers reported seeing flames and smoke emanating from the roof. SVFD Engine 6 arrived within four minutes and upgraded the incident to a working fire, prompting the dispatch of additional units.
The first crew on the scene deployed hose lines and initiated an offensive strategy. Within ten minutes, a primary search of the residence was completed, safely securing two dogs in a laundry room. By 10:58 a.m., the fire was knocked down.
SVFD investigators stayed on site to determine the fire’s cause, which was found to be a malfunction in the home’s electrical wiring. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. A neighbor kindly took care of the dogs until the homeowner could be contacted.
The Red Cross was notified, and efforts to reach the homeowner are ongoing. The loss value has yet to be determined.
