Fire danger raised to ‘very high’ in Benton County

KENNEWICK, Wash. – Fire officials have elevated the fire danger level in Benton County to ‘very high’ until further notice, warning residents that conditions are good for fast-spreading and hard-to-control wildfires.

Under the current alert, public outdoor burning is not permitted, and all residents are urged to use extreme caution.

Fires can ignite easily and spread quickly, potentially outpacing firefighting efforts, according to the Benton County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Residents must call the appropriate burn line before lighting any fires residental or agricultural due to changing environmental conditions such as wind or air inversions.
