SPOKANE, Wash. -Fire crews are currently responding to ‘suspicious’ brush fires near Cheney Spokane Road and South Marshall Road.

Officials advised the public to avoid the area around Fish Lake Trail as crews work to contain the fires. The situation is ongoing, and fire teams are actively managing the scene to prevent further spread.

Spokane Fire Department said the fires are covering 3 to 5 acres and started as multiple small fires primarily fueled by grass and bushes. SFD also said the conditions are fortunately not as dry as they would be later in the season.

One house is under threat, but no evacuations have been ordered. Marshall Road is partially closed, though residents can pass through.

Officials said the fires look suspicious, but arson cannot be proven at this time. They urged residents to check security cameras and call crime check if anything suspicious is observed.
