SPOKANE, Wash. — Fire crews quickly contained a small wildfire Monday morning in Spokane near East Hartson Ave.
The fire was reported just after 11 a.m. and burned less than a quarter of an acre, according to Spokane Fire Department.
Crews from the Spokane Fire Department, Spokane Valley Fire Department, and the Washington Department of Natural Resources responded.
Officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to be human-caused.
High winds in the area contributed to the fire’s risk. An ember from the original blaze blew into a nearby backyard on 8th Avenue, igniting a second small fire. Both fires were extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
The Spokane Fire Department is reminding residents to download the AlertSpokane app to receive emergency notifications about local fires and other hazards.
