Ferris High School’s 63rd annual Ham on Regal variety show returns to raise funds for students

SPOKANE, Wash. — A beloved South Hill tradition returned this week as Ferris High School parents take the stage for the 63rd annual Ham on Regal performance, an original comedy musical that raises funds for student activities and programs.

The one-of-a-kind performance, produced and written by Ferris High School parents, brings together hundreds of volunteers who pour thousands of hours into creating the annual variety show.

“It is also good for the soul to simply dance, laugh, sing, and get more and more out of that comfort zone as best you can, and stretch what you think might be possible,” said Chris, a performer in this year’s show.

Ham on Regal started in 1963 and has raised $3 million for Ferris students over the years.

For many participants, the experience feels less like work and more like a privilege. The show provides an opportunity for parents to step outside their comfort zones while supporting their children’s school community.

One of the most anticipated performances each year is the student con, a show that is exclusively for Ferris students.

“All of the high school students they will check in to class. Then they will come to the show. And it gets nutty…. it is our favorite show of the year,” said Nicole Koyama, show chair.

Performances continue Wednesday through Saturday at 7 p.m. There will also be a performance at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $13, with a special half-price family night scheduled for Thursday.
