Ferris High School parents ready to grace the stage in 63rd Ham on Regal variety show

SPOKANE, Wash – If you want to find out if enthusiasm can make up for marginal talent, get ready to catch the 63rd showing of the Ferris High School Ham on Regal show!

(I can call it marginal, as I’m one of the marginally-talented parents taking part).

The parent-produced musical/comedy show is about to take the stage, all to raise money for programs at Ferris.

More than 250 parents and staff put in thousands of volunteer hours to stage the show, doing everything from writing the scripts to painting the sets.

First staged in 1963, Ham on Regal has generated more than $3 million to give back to all kinds of clubs and activities.

This year’s theme is O.I.N.K. Media and it features playful nods to the people and places that make Spokane special.

Show week starts Sunday, March 8th with what is lovingly called Gram on Regal. While anyone can attend, the audience also features residents from nearby nursing homes and assisted living centers.

Tuesday is Student Con day, where Ferris students get to sit in the audience and cheer (or jeer!) their parents.

The show continues with performances Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night at 7 pm.

Show week culminates with two shows on Saturday, March 14th. Performances are at 1 pm and 7 pm.

You can buy tickets here.

Author’s note: If you do make it to the show, keep an eye out for a cowgirl during the tap dancing number. I’ll be over on stage left, just trying to keep up.
