WASHINGTON STATE – A federal judge has blocked the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from implementing changes to its largest homelessness grant program.
The judge’s order requires HUD to continue processing Continuum of Care grant applications under the existing rules. This decision comes after a coalition of states, including Washington, filed a lawsuit against HUD in November.
The coalition argued that the proposed changes would reduce permanent housing funds and impose illegal requirements. Washington Attorney General Nick Brown emphasized that the ruling protects vital housing support.
