Federal government set to change alcohol consumption guidelines

The federal government is reportedly planning to change its recommendation for adults to limit their alcohol intake to one or two drinks per day. This change comes amid growing concerns about alcohol-related deaths.

A report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released last year highlighted a 29% increase in alcohol-related deaths between 2016 and 2021. The statistic underscores the ongoing public health challenge posed by alcohol consumption.

Despite the rising numbers, Health Secretary RFK Junior has not commented on the potential policy shift. However, he has reorganized his department to remove the group responsible for the report.
