CHERNOBYL, Ukraine – The United Nations’ nuclear watchdog has raised concerns about the integrity of the protective shield at Chernobyl.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that the massive steel structure can no longer contain radiation after suffering severe damage.

The damage occurred following a drone strike in February. Ukraine has accused Russia of carrying out the attack, though the Kremlin has denied any involvement.

Temporary repairs have been made to the structure. However, the IAEA is recommending a major renovation to restore full protection at the site.
