FDA recalls baby food in Oregon after lead poisoning reports

OREGON – The FDA has issued a recall for a brand of baby food following reports of lead poisoning in Oregon. The product in question is the Good and Gather Baby: peas, zucchini, kale, thyme, and vegetable puree.

The recall was prompted by the detection of elevated blood lead levels in two babies in Oregon, according to the Oregon Health Authority. This product was initially recalled in March after more than 25,000 packages were identified as potentially hazardous.

The baby food was sold in 4-ounce containers at Target stores nationwide. Health experts emphasize that no level of lead is safe for children.

The Oregon Health Authority advises parents and caregivers to dispose of this product immediately. If you suspect your child has consumed it, contact a doctor for a blood test.
