Fans cheer on Gonzaga basketball at No-Li watch party

SPOKANE, Wash. — Although Gonzaga University’s women’s basketball team lost its matchup against Ole Miss this afternoon, the players had lots of fans cheering them on – including at a watch party at No-Li Brewhouse.

No-Li owner John Bryant said March Madness benefits his business not just financially, but also from a community-building standpoint.

“We want to celebrate,” Bryant said. “So when you see Gonzaga or any team make a run that we can all have pride about, the energy’s so good.”

The brewery has been hosting watch parties for each of GU’s March Madness matchups. Bryant said these events draw people from both Spokane and out of town.

Among the fans gathered to watch the women’s game was Josh Parbon. He said he’s been a longtime GU basketball fan, but he’s become more invested now that his friend’s daughter – freshman Julia Wilson – plays on the women’s team.

“She’s great,” Parbon said. “She’s having the time of her life, and just excited to see her in the tournament.”

Fans will return to No-Li for GU men’s basketball’s next matchup against Texas at 4:10 p.m. on Saturday.
