
CHENEY, Wash. – Police are investigating a false shooting report near an elementary school in Cheney that prompted a lockdown Wednesday morning.
According to the Cheney Police Department, officers and Spokane County deputies responded around 9:30 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Gregory Drive, near Salnave Elementary School.
As a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown while officers and a SWAT team searched the area.
Police later determined there was no evidence of a shooting and lifted the lockdown. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information has been released.
