Evans Road Fire near Clarkston prompts state aid, evacuations ordered

State fire assistance has been mobilized to support local firefighters tackling the Evans Road Fire in Asotin County, near Clarkston.

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized this move on July 9, at 2:45 p.m. following a request from Fire Chief Noel Hardin of Asotin County Fire District 1, said a release by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The fire has already engulfed an estimated 300 acres of grass and brush. It poses a threat to electric and gas infrastructure, several structures, and the Port of Clarkston.

Level 1 and 2 evacuations are currently in place as the fire’s cause is being investigated.

CLARKSTON, Wash. – Multiple fire departments are responding to a fire in the area of the Asotin County Landfill.

The fire is near Ingram Road and Evans Road, according to Garfield County Fire District 1, who sent units to help fight the fire.

People should avoid the area if they are going to the valley, added Garfield County Fire District 1.

The landfill is closed and people should avoid the area, said Asotin County Emergency Management.
