Evacuations lifted after 65-acre brush fire in East Wenatchee, human cause suspected

EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. – Evacuations have been lifted for a 65-acre brush fire in the East Wenatchee area.

According to a spokesperson for East Wenatchee Valley Fire, Level 2 evacuation notices were dropped after crews made significant progress on the fire, which began around 3:20 p.m. Firefighters said they had a containment line around the fire by 5:45 p.m. and had largely knocked it down by 5:15 p.m.

No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to be human-caused, according to fire officials.

EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. – Level 2 (Be Set) evacuation notices have been issued for a brush fire burning in East Wenatchee.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the fire is located in the area of 10th Street NE between Stark Avenue and Macaw Avenue. Deputies said Level 2 evacuation notices, meaning residents should be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice, have been issued for the north side of 10th Street NE between Urban Industrial Way and Macaw Avenue.

Authorities are asking residents to stay out of the area while fire crews work.
