Evacuations dropped to Level 1 for fire near Spokane Falls Community College

UPDATE: July 8 at 5:30 p.m.

Evacuation orders for the Elliot Fire have dropped from Level 3 to Level 1. Fire crews are now mopping up the fire which burned approximately five acres.

Those who were evacuated are cleared to return home but are asked to be ready to leave again if the fire flares up again.

According to the Department of Natural Resources, this fire started as four separate spot fires in the area near West Elliot Drive.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to have been started by arson.

The fire has led to Level 3 evacuations in the area. The evacuation zone is pictured.

Spokane Falls Community College has been ordered to evacuate. Residents may find evacuation updates here.

According to Ryan Rodruck with the Department of Natural Resources, the fire started in four separate areas and has spread over four acres.

SPOKANE, Wash. – A brush fire in the Spokane has drawn a significant response from fire crews due to its location.

The fire in the area of W Elliott Dr. and N Holy Names Ct. and W Elliott Ct. is located near a housing development.

Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.

Residents are advised to stay clear of the area while crews battle the blaze.
