Evacuation order lifted for fire near Carlton and Twisp

The Level 1 advisory has been lifted according to Okanogan County Emergency Management.

The Gun Dog Road Fire/Taylor Road Fire along SR 153 burned approximately 40 acres and is now contained.

All evacuation areas have been reduced to Level 1 Advisory, according to Okanogan County Emergency Management.

Department of Natural Resources remained on the fire, monitoring it overnight.

Emergency Management is also monitoring the fire.

UPDATE July 3, 8:02 P.M.

According to Maurice Goodall, Director with Okanogan County Emergency Management, the grass fire, which is being called the Gun Dog Road Fire, is currently burning 40 acres.

Although evacuation orders remain in effect, the fire’s forward progression has been stopped.

Goodall stated that no homes have been damaged and that no injuries have been reported. Crews will remain on scene throughout the night to continue their containment efforts.

UPDATE July 3, 6 P.M.

Okanogan County Emergency Management (OCEM) has issued a level 2 (be ready to evacuate) order for all residents on Vintin Road.

Level 1 has been issued for the area of Benson Creek Road and Yellow Jacket Road.

Maurice Goodall, Director with OCEM, told us that a grass fire started along Taylor Road, and began quickly moving to the north and northeast.

Goodall stated that resrouces are on scene to begin making containment efforts, but that no report of the fire’s acreage is available.

OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. – A level 3 immediate evacuation order has been issued by Okanogan County Emergency Management (OCEM) for a fire near State Route 153, milepost 2526, affecting the areas around Carlton and Twisp.

The order was prompted by a fire that began burning close to Taylor Road. Residents are urged to evacuate immediately and remain alert for emergency vehicles in the area. OCEM emphasized not to wait for door-to-door notifications.
