Evacuation levels remain in effect for the Crescent Road Fire

UPDATE: August 18, 2025 10:00 p.m.

Level 1 and 2 evacuations remain in effect on the Lincoln-Spokane County border, south of the Spokane River.

Evacuation orders extend into Spokane County from east to west Prewett Road and west in Lincoln County to State Route 231.

The fire has been burning since August 13 and is estimated to be 883 acres in size.

UPDATE: August 16, 2025 2:00 p.m.

The Crescent Fire has not grown, but is still 0% contained, according to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

On August 16, representatives from the fire crews fighting the Crescent Fire will hold a community meeting at Willow Wind Organic Farm from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to answer questions about the fire and provide information.

The Crescent Fire is mainly burning between the Crescent Road and the Devil’s Gap Road on the northeast corner of Lincoln County and the Western edge of Spokane County, seven miles north of Rearden.

UPDATE: August 15, 2025 4:08 p.m.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reported that the Crescent Road Fire has reached 893 acres in size, while remaining 0% contained.

A total of 247 fire personnel are currently on scene, with hand crews focusing on building the fire line along the western end of the fire and working north toward the cliffs. Meanwhile, saw personnel will be removing hazard trees along side the hand crews and strengthening fire lines.

Aircraft will continue to assist with mop-up efforts, as needed.

According to the DNR, level 3 evacuations have been reduced to the area immediately surrounding the fire perimeter. However, level 2 and level 1 evacuations remain in place.

UPDATE: August 14, 2025 3:00 p.m.

The Crescent Road Fire is now 778.9 acres and is still 0% contained, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire is at Devil’s Gap Road area near the Lincoln County and Spokane County lines.

There are closures on Sontag Park and Nine Mile Falls to let fire teams extend parking beyond Nine Mile Falls Elementary School.

The cause is still under investigation.

UPDATE: August 14 at 11:54 a.m.

Crews from Spokane County Fire District 9 put in several miles of primary and contingency fire control lines on the Crescent Road Fire last night, the agency shared in a news release, along with a video.

Primary lines are designed to stop spread by being built directly on the fire’s edge. Contingency lines provide added security in case the fire were to cross the primary line.

Firefighters were working well into the early morning hours before being relieved, the fire district said.

UPDATE: August 13 at 8:35 p.m.

A Level 3 evacuation notice has been issued to those living between Farwell Rd and the Spokane River, and between McLaughlin Rd and SR 231.

The fire is currently burning on top of the cliffs at Whispering Pines and is moving north towards the river, Devils Gap and Long Lake Rd.

REARDAN, Wash. — A wildfire ignited north of Reardan in rural Lincoln County Wednesday evening.

In a post on Facebook, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office asked anyone in the area of Whispering Pines, Crescent Road and Devils Gap Road to evacuate right away.

The fire was estimated to be about 50 acres as of 5:30 p.m.
