COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has begun its sixth review of the cleanup efforts at the Bunker Hill Superfund site, known as the Coeur d’Alene Basin cleanup.
This site has been under review every five years since its addition to the National Priorities List in 1983. The periodic evaluations ensure that cleanup efforts continue to protect both people and the environment as contamination remains on site.
Since the cleanup work began, lead levels in local children have decreased by more than 50 percent. However, the EPA acknowledges that there is still significant progress to be made.
The public is invited to share comments or concerns about the cleanup process until August 31. More details can be found on the EPA’s Bunker Hill Superfund site webpage.
