Emergency units respond to mass casualty collision on I-90 near Elk Heights

UPDATE: July 19, 2025 at 6:40 p.m.

According to the Upper Kittitas County Firefighters and Paramedics, nine patients, including seven children, were transported to the hospital after the crash. One of these patients was airlifted. Officials reported that one person died at the scene before the nine others were transported.

The last report from authorities that was shared on Saturday afternoon stated that Interstate 90 was still reduced to a single lane, causing significant traffic delays.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident.

The WSDOT alert is cleared.

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. – Emergency units are currently responding to a mass casualty car crash on I-90 near MP 95, two miles from Elk Heights.

The crash involved a single vehicle fatality collision, according to the Washington State Patrol District 6 Public Information Officer.

I-90 Lane 1 is closed and Snoqualmie Pass Department of Transportation is running traffic control, he added.

So far, there are ten patients from the crash, according to Upper Kittitas County Firefighters and Paramedics.

Two helicopters have been requested at the scene of the crash, they said.

They also asked people to avoid the area.
