CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington University (EWU) celebrated Squirrel Appreciation Day by encouraging the community to give back.
EWU asked people to “Squirrel Up Support” by donating in honor of squirrels to support the university’s food pantries. These pantries provide essential food items for students in need.
EWU highlighted that this initiative serves as a fun way to spotlight the growing need for food assistance among students. The university noted that due to high grocery prices, 44% of students require help purchasing food items.
