RITZVILLE, Wash. – East Adams Rural Healthcare (EARH) announced on Wednesday that the hospital is no longer at risk of closing after a strong financial performance in November and December.
Previously, EARH indicating a risk of closure or bankruptcy by January 7 due to a reported $13.4 million loss over the past several years. A recent audit also uncovered fraud by a former employee, totaling more than $30,000.
EARH CEO Todd Nida shared their strategy going forward.
“We are continuing to move forward with our transition to becoming a Rural Emergency Hospital, which we believe represents the most viable long-term path for ensuring access to essential healthcare services in our community while operating under a more sustainable financial model,” Nida said. “This transition also has the potential to serve as a model for other rural hospitals across the state facing similar challenges.”
Despite the positive developments, Nida noted the hospital still faces “significant debt obligations” and will need to maintain operational discipline to achieve further stability.
