SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police have released additional details about a crash Thursday night in which a car slammed into River Park Square in downtown Spokane.

Police said the car smashed through a set of doors, causing extensive damage. Witnesses reported the car was traveling east on Main Avenue from Lincoln Street at a high rate of speed. The car reportedly struck a parked car, lost control, crossed onto the sidewalk and then hit the building.
Police said the driver swerved to avoid a person on a scooter just before the crash occurred. Police also said that the driver was running late and showed no signs of impairment.
Due to the nature of the crash, the driver was evaluated at a local hospital and was cited reckless driving.
