NESPELEM, Wash. – A double homicide that occurred Thursday night on the Colville Reservation has resulted in the death of Laura Dick, a clerk for the Colville Tribal Court, and her son, as confirmed by the Colville Business Council.
Jarred-Michael Erickson, Chairman of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, highlighted the profound impact on the community.
“Our community is grieving deeply today after the loss of two of our own in what appears to be a senseless act of violence,” Erickson said. “Laura was someone I had known since we were young—we went to school together—and her passing feels especially close to home.”
In response to the tragedy, officials announced that the Colville Tribal Court will operate on a limited basis for the next week while the staff mourn their friend and colleague.
