SPOKANE, Wash. — An arrest has been made following a double homicide at the Center Court Apartments located at Cozza Drive and Nevada Street. NonStop Local’s Gierra Cottingham has been on the scene since the morning as police confirmed the arrest.
Authorities reported that a neighbor was taken into custody around 9:00 a.m. after a tense night. Neighbors played a crucial role by directing police to the suspect.
Police responded to a call made by neighbors at around 11:00 p.m. after they heard gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered two bodies inside an apartment. It remains unclear if the deceased individuals lived at the location.
A local resident, Jennifer Rogers, shared her experience upon returning home.
“When I saw that, I was like, luckily we weren’t here because like I said, I have an 11-year-old and a 9-year-old and I didn’t, you know, we didn’t know exactly what was happening because we weren’t here. When we got home, it was just kind of like, he kind of escorted us to our apartment with my kids and my dog,” she said.
The suspect is being charged with murder and may make a first court appearance as early as tomorrow. Further details about the investigation and the suspect will be revealed once formal charges are filed.
