COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) has acquired advanced SONAR equipment thanks to a donation from the Mahogany Boater Education Association Inc. (MBEA).
Officials from the KCSO reported that the equipment, purchased in collaboration with the county, will enhance their ability to locate submerged objects. This will improve their response to critical situations like drownings, missing person cases and recovery operations.
Scott Hislop, an MBEA Board Member, expressed the organization’s dedication to safety.
“Safety is a core part of our mission at MBEA. This donation reflects our commitment to supporting those who work tirelessly to keep our waters safe for everyone,” Hislop said. “We’re honored to partner with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and provide them with the tools they need to serve the community more effectively so we can all enjoy the waterways we love.”
Sergeant Ryan Odegaard of the KCSO highlighted the impact of the new technology.
“This SONAR technology will significantly enhance our ability to respond quickly and accurately to water related incidents requiring advanced equipment. We are incredibly grateful to MBEA for their generosity and continued partnership,” Odegaard stated.
