SPOKANE CO., Wash. – A domestic violence call to law enforcement turned into a several hour long standoff involving SWAT teams Sunday evening.

The report was made at a home on W. Four Mound Road, east of the W. Farwell Road and N. Dover Road intersection, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies spoke with the victim and others that left the home who said the suspect had been intoxicated when he hit the victim and threw things at other people.

It was believed he also had access to firearms.

When deputies tried to contact the suspect, the sheriff’s office said he refused to follow commands or come out of the home.

Help from the SWAT team, crisis negotiators and other resources was requested as deputies worked to get a search warrant.

After several commands to peacefully surrender and warnings of a forced entry, SWAT team members breached the door after a search warrant was received.

Around 11:20 pm, the SWAT team advised the suspect walked out of the home and was in custody.

The suspect has been taken to the Spokane County Jail.
