The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is offering immigrants who self-depart through the CBP Home app by the end of the year a $3,000 stipend.
The government will also reportedly cover travel costs and is offering relief from certain civil penalties.
DHS is temporarily increasing the previously announced financial incentive from $1,000 as a part of what it described as a push for voluntary departures.
It was not stated how the $3,000 payment would be distributed.
