Deer Park secures $400k loan to boost water supply with new well

DEER PARK, Wash. — The Washington State Public Works Board (PWB) has awarded $4.9 million to eight pre-construction projects across the state including one for a new municipal well in Deer Park.

The city received a $400,000 loan for the project on East 6th Street. The project will help pay for production lost from four of the city’s eight existing wells, which have been experiencing reduced capacity.

PWB Chair Vince McGowan emphasized the importance of planning. “Most of us haven’t stopped to think about the careful planning and design that leads to a successful project,” he said in a release.

The PWB continues to accept pre-construction applications, which are awarded quarterly. Although the fiscal year 2026 funds are fully expended, applications remain open and potential awards will be assessed using other available funds.

The Washington State Public Works Board, established in 1985, has provided more than $3.8 billion to over 2,300 infrastructure projects statewide.
