DEER PARK, Wash. – A local business owner expressed frustration after more than a dozen tires were dumped along a road near his property.
The tires have since been removed by Stevens County, but the question remains: who is responsible for the dumping?
The tires were scattered along a road stretching more than a mile. Despite being a dead end, this road serves as the access point for Dierks Diesel and Auto Performance and several families who reside in the area.
Galen Dierks, owner of Dierks Diesel and Auto Performance, shared his gratitude for the quick response by the county to clear the tires within a day. However, he remains frustrated with those who dumped the tires in the first place.
“I was kind of irked because, I mean, obviously we live out here. It’s beautiful. That’s part of why we live here. And for people to just trash it up like, that’s pretty maddening,” Dierks said. “And then it almost felt like they went out of their way to make it a bigger mess because, like, they could have just dumped them in a pile that still would have been bad, but they spread them out for literally a mile.”
Dierks also expressed his appreciation for community members and businesses who offered to help with the cleanup process.
