Deadly motorhome crash on I-90 in Kootenai County leaves one dead

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho – The Idaho State Police (ISP) reported a deadly single vehicle collision on Interstate 90 in Kootenai County.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon around 3:26 p.m.

According to the ISP, a Coachmen motorhome was travelling eastbound on I-90, near mile post 29, when the driver, a 71-year-old man from Mandan, North Dakota, experienced a medical emergency on the road.

The motorhome veered off the roadway, hit an embankment and was overturned. Emergency services managed to remove the driver from the vehicle, as well as a 72-year-old passenger. The driver was transported to a hospital by LifeFlight, while the passenger was uninjured.

The ISP reported that the roadway was blocked for around one hour, while emergency responders assisted those involved.

Later, the driver succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced dead, according to the ISP.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
