HAYDEN, Idaho – A fatal crash on Hayden Lake Road is currently under investigation by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).
Deputies responded to a report of an unconscious male found in a ditch near Hayden Lake Road and Rhapsody Lane at about 3:50 a.m. on April 11. Upon arrival, they discovered the male was dead.
Further investigation revealed a vehicle approximately 60 feet down an embankment. The KCSO Traffic Unit is investigating the incident.
Preliminary findings suggest the man was in a single-car crash and attempted to walk to the roadway for help before succumbing to his injuries.
Evidence at the scene indicates alcohol and/or drugs may have been contributing factors.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains active.
