Deadly crash blocks State Highway 41 in Kootenai County

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho – A deadly crash that blocked State Highway 41 for over two hours on Sunday is currently being investigated by Idaho State Police (ISP).

The incident happened on Sunday afternoon around 2:45 p.m. near mile post 18, south of Spirit Lake. According to ISP, a silver Ford F250 was traveling northbound on SH-41 and veered to the left, crossing into the southbound lane.

The silver Ford collided with a black Ford F350 traveling the opposite direction. The driver of the silver Ford, a 21-year-old man from Priest River, Idaho, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining critical injuries from the crash.

The driver of the black Ford F350, a 62-year-old man from Palm Harbor, Florida, was wearing his seatbelt during the collision. He was quickly transported to the hospital in an ambulance.

According to ISP, evidence gathered at the scene of the crash indicated the involvement of alcohol in the incident, prompting further investigation by authorities.
