SPOKANE, Wash. – A daycare worker from Lil Hawks Daycare is facing serious charges following allegations of assaulting young children.
Marissa Ann-Marie Kuhen, a worker at the daycare, was accused of pulling a child off a play structure in April, resulting in the child being hospitalized with a broken leg. The incident has sparked concern among parents seeking safe childcare.
Lil Hawks Daycare has been inspected twice in the past two years. Inspection documents revealed issues such as staff members with expired first aid certifications and undocumented bottles of Tylenol in the building. However, there were no previous allegations of child abuse.
Parents can use the “Child Care Check” tool from the Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) to research childcare centers. This tool provides information on inspections, complaints, and quality level ratings for centers across Washington.
Lil Hawks Daycare holds a quality rating of 3 out of 5. NonStop Local is currently working to confirm a statement reportedly released by the daycare regarding the situation.
