PULLMAN, Wash. – Dawn Daniels is set to take the helm of the Washington State University (WSU) Police Department, with her formal swearing-in scheduled for August 15, WSU said in a release.

Daniels, who joined the department in 1998, has served in various roles, including community liaison officer and assistant chief.

WSU President Elizabeth Cantwell will officiate Daniels’ confirmation as the new police chief during a ceremony at 2:00 p.m. in the Holland and Terrell Libraries Atrium on the WSU Pullman campus.

The event will also introduce incoming Assistant Chief Harry Smith and recognize outgoing Chief Gary Jenkins for his service.

Jenkins has been with the department since 2022 and has had a four-decade career in law enforcement.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, part of the Pullman campus’ Week of Welcome.
