COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Innovia Foundation has established the Kootenai County/Canfield Mountain Crisis Relief Fund following the tragic incident on Canfield Mountain that resulted in the deaths of two firefighters and left a third injured.
Shelly O’Quinn, CEO of Innovia Foundation, emphasized the impact on the community. “This was a deliberate, calculated assault on the very people who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe,” O’Quinn said.
The relief fund aims to support the families of the fallen, the injured firefighter and local first responder units.
Innovia Foundation has contributed an initial $10,000 to the fund, and donations are encouraged from individuals and organizations across North Idaho and the Inland Northwest.
Ryan Nipp, Innovia Foundation Board President, highlighted the community’s resilience. “This tragic event does not define us as a Coeur d’Alene community,” Nipp said. “What truly defines us is our compassion and support for one another.”
