
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A crash in the Trentwood neighborhood on Wellesley and Calvin Road occurred just before 8:00 p.m., leaving an 8-year-old boy injured and a house damaged.
According to Spokane Valley Police, a man struck the boy on a bicycle near his driveway. The driver then crashed into a nearby house with five people inside. Fortunately, no one in the house was injured.
Police suspect the driver had been drinking. Initially, officers placed him in a patrol car to be taken to the hospital. However, due to his health condition, he was transported by ambulance instead.
Fire crews and detectives were on the scene to extract the vehicle and conduct further investigation.
The boy was taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said.
Residents of the impacted house expressed shock, stating they have known the driver for years and are hoping for the boy’s recovery.
The driver’s family declined to comment publicly but are awaiting more information from authorities.
